With 55 New Orleans hotel suites, the Monteleone can accommodate practically every traveler’s need with our Executive, Vieux Carre and Riverview Suites, Salons and Parlors. Ranging from 207 square feet to over 551 square feet, these rooms offer an array of views, overstuffed beds, Garden tubs, and upscale amenities. All guest suites feature CD players, portable telephones, high-speed Internet, minibars and other upscale amenities.

AUTHOR SUITES

Because of the rich literary history of the Hotel Monteleone, the hotel has dedicated its signature “Author Suites” to the great southern writers, all of whom have frequented the hotel, written about the hotel, or both. The decor in these suites recreates the individual style of the literary icons that have inspired the imagination of generations. With panoramic views of the Mississippi River, French Quarter or downtown skyline, plush furnishings and upscale amenities, these rooms make you want to move in …permanently.

FJ Monteleone Suite
Parlor dimensions are 22′ 4″ x 22′ 7″ – 551 sq ft.
The parlor can accommodate 50-70 people.

Frank Monteleone assumed his father’s legacy in 1913. Fifteen years later, he added the 200-room section where this suite is located, at the same time successfully steering the hotel through the Great Depression. His namesake suite, our largest, is dedicated to his memory. It offers the flexibility of two bedrooms, one featuring a King sized bed and the second featuring two double beds. The vast parlor affords a panoramic view of the Mississippi River, along with a sofa bed, plasma television, wet bar, and many other amenities.

Additionally, there is an adjacent office setup with fax machine. The marble and granite bathroom includes a Garden tub and separate glass shower. The suite features a CD player, portable telephone, high-speed Internet and other upscale amenities. The parlor can accommodate 50-70 people for hospitality.

Eudora Welty

The Hotel Monteleone’s famous Carousel Piano Bar and Lounge is featured in Eudora Welty’s short story, The Purple Hat. The suite bearing her name offers the flexibility of two bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed. The roomy parlor offers a panoramic view of the Mississippi River, along with a sofa bed, plasma television, wet bar and many other amenities. Additionally, there is an adjacent office setup with fax machine.

Tennessee Williams
Parlor dimensions are 20′ 5″ x 29′ 6″ – 602 sq. ft
The parlor can accommodate 35-40 people.

Tennessee Williams featured the Hotel Monteleone is his play, The Rose Tattoo. Until Williams purchased a fine mansion in the French Quarter, he often stayed at Hotel Monteleone. Available in either a one- or two-bedroom configuration, the suite is one of our largest and offers a magnificent view of the French Quarter. Both bedrooms offer a king-sized bed, and a sofa bed in the parlor provides additional sleeping capacity.

Truman Capote
Parlor dimensions are 17’7″ x 24″ 8″ – 434 sq. ft.
The parlor can accommodate 25-30 people.

Capote was fond of telling the press that he was born inside the Hotel Monteleone. In fact, the Hotel assisted his mother with transportation to Touro Hospital, where he was actually born. Overlooking the French Quarter, this beautifully appointed suite reflects Capote’s personality. The one-bedroom suite offers a king-sized bed and a comfortable parlor.

William Faulkner
Parlor dimensions are 15 x 15’6″ – 232.5 sq. ft.
The parlor area can accommodate 10-15 people.

William Faulkner’s love of the Hotel Monteleone inspired this lovely suite overlooking the French Quarter. In 1951, Faulkner stayed here while in town to receive the French Legion of Honor Award. The suite features marble and granite bathrooms, as well as a CD player, portable telephone, high-speed Internet, a minibar and other upscale amenities.

Available in one-bedroom and two-bedroom configurations, the main bedroom has two double beds and the additional bedroom has a king bed. The parlor area can accommodate 10-15 people for hospitality and offers built in wet bar, refrigerator and ice maker.

Ernest Hemingway
Parlor dimensions are 16′ x 19′ 304 sq ft.
The parlor can accommodate 10-15 people.

Hemingway stayed at the Monteleone and mentioned the Carousel Bar in his short story, The Night Before Battle. So it’s fitting that the Hemingway Penthouse be located in the section of the hotel that once housed the Union Troops. This unique suite with dual balconies offers both City and French Quarter views and is adjacent to our rooftop pool and fitness center. The penthouse main bedroom has a king bed, while the optional guest room features two double beds.

The suite features a bar, refrigerator, ice maker, CD player, portable telephone, high speed Internet, mini-bar and other upscale amenities. The parlor is the perfect spot for casual entertaining and can accommodate 10-15 people.

Royal Salons (9)
