Buzz-Worthy New Orleans Breweries

New Orleans is a cocktail town — just ask the Sazerac or the Vieux Carre cocktail at our own Carousel Bar. But in the past few years, beer has set its sights on the Crescent City. Now, you can experience craft beers from New Orleans breweries and tap rooms and enjoy several beer-focused tours. And you know there’s a festival for that in New Orleans: the annual NOLA on Tap (happening September 23, 2017) pairs brews with a good cause to support the LSPCA animal shelter. Take a look at all the ways to cheers with beers below.

New Orleans Breweries, Beer Tours, and Pubs

Beer Tours

One of the best and easiest ways to enjoy several unique breweries at once is to take a local tour. The New Orleans’ Original Brewery Tour includes transportation on a small, luxury bus and takes you through Courtyard Brewery, Urban South Brewing, and NOLA Brewing. Or, try the NOLA Brew Bus, which stops at the Avenue Pub, Cooter Brown’s, and the Bulldog in Mid-City. The Brew Bus also offers trips across the lake to Abita Brewery.

Tap Rooms, Bars, and Breweries

New Orleans has a wealth of spots to get an ice-cold beer. Uptown, there are several options to choose from, including the Lower Garden District’s Courtyard Brewery, Urban South Brewery, and the Avenue Pub (it’s open 24 hours a day!). We also like Port Orleans Brewing and NOLA Brewing Company. Central City delivers with Wayward Owl Brewing, and in Mid-City, try Broad Street Cider & Ale or Second Line Brewing — there’s also Bayou Beer Garden for a wide selection of brews. In the French Quarter, head to Crescent City Brewhouse, near our hotel. You can also venture past the French Quarter to the Marigny and Bywater, where you’ll find Brieux Carre and Parleaux Beer Lab. The Bulldog is a local favorite and features locations on Magazine Street and in Mid-City.

NOLA on Tap

NOLA on Tap is the largest beer fest in the region — and you’ll be raising your stein to a good cause. This dog-friendly fest benefits the Louisiana SPCA and is chock full of incredible brews to try from local vendors alongside national and home-brewed beer. It’s how New Orleanians kick off Oktoberfest! NOLA on Tap happens Saturday, September 23, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. in City Park. Click here for tickets.

Don’t forget that our Carousel Bar & Lounge offers a full selection of draught beers to sate your thirst. Cheers!
