Southern Decadence – New Orleans’ Pride Event of the Year

Southern Decadence 2013 New Orleans Festival LGBTNew Orleans has a lot of pride for a lot of things, and one of those is Southern Decadence, the “Gay Mardi Gras” of sorts in the French Quarter over Labor Day weekend. This year, the Southern Decadence festivities will start Wednesday, August 28 and go on until Monday, September 2.

Southern Decadence brings an around-the-clock party at the epicenter of Gay New Orleans, the corner of Bourbon St. and St. Ann in the French Quarter, just steps from our New Orleans hotel.  Some of the best DJ’s from all over the nation come to keep the celebration going.

To top it all off, this year Southern Decadence will have Lance Bass from N’Sync hosting his SiriusXM satellite radio show “Dirty Pop” live from the balcony of the Bourbon Pub & Parade.

Southern Decadence Parade in the French Quarter

The most notable day of this five day experience is Sunday, September 1, when around 120,000 people come out to watch the Southern Decadence Parade in the French Quarter.  This year’s parade will be led by Tami Tarmac and Venus Santiago, the 2013 Grand Marshals.  With outrageous outfits, spectacular floats, and rainbow flags flying high, Southern Decadence is more than any Gay Parade you have seen before.
