New Orleans has pride for a lot of things, and one of those is Southern Decadence – the “Gay Mardi Gras” held in the French Quarter every Labor Day weekend. In 2016, the Southern Decadence festivities will start Wednesday, August 31st and go on until Monday, September 5th.
Southern Decadence brings an around-the-clock party to the epicenter of Gay New Orleans, at the corner of Bourbon St. and St. Ann in the French Quarter, just steps from our LGBTQ+ friendly New Orleans hotel.
Southern Decadence Parade in the French Quarter
The most notable day of this five day experience is Sunday, September 4th, when around 120,000 people come out to watch the Southern Decadence Parade in the French Quarter. This year’s parade will start at 2:00 pm at the Official Home of Southern Decadence, the Golden Lantern Bar. With outrageous outfits, spectacular floats, and rainbow flags flying high, Southern Decadence is more spectacular than any gay parade you have seen before.
