Two favorite festivals among locals happen in May along the banks of beautiful Bayou St. John. Bayou Boogaloo Music Festival (May 20-22), now in its 11th year, offers free admission and features 4 stages of live music, plus local artisans, food booths and other activities. Greek Fest (May 27-29) is a celebration of Hellenic culture, with live music and traditional dance performances, plus plenty traditional Greek food, wine and desserts.

The 23rd New Orleans Wine and Food Experience (May 26-29) is a foodie’s dream, with hands-on educational activities and tasting events galore.

June 2016

Festival season stretches into summer as New Orleanians host celebrations of favorite Southern foods like fresh Gulf oysters and Creole tomatoes. The New Orleans Oyster Festival (June 4-5) and French Market Creole Tomato Festival (June 11-12) are free and open to the public, with plenty of delicious food available for purchase. The fun continues the following weekend at Louis Armstrong Park as the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival (June 18-19) offers visitors the tastes and sounds of authentic Acadian culture at its finest, for free!
