Carousel Bar Cocktail Recipes: Jazz Fest Edition

Cocktail Recipe: Maruice's MadnessNow that the first weekend of Jazz Fest is here, we want to share a few of our favorite Carousel Bar Cocktail Recipes to enjoy before and after the fest! Starting your Jazz Fest day with a delectable breakfast from Criollo accompanied by a delicious Carousel Bar creation is, in our opinion, the best way to go. Our featured pre-Jazz Fest cocktail recipe is for Maurice’s Madness – a new twist on a Bloody Mary which features gin and absinthe in the place of vodka. It pairs perfectly with a Spa Aria Omelet (egg whites filled with asparagus, wild mushrooms, jalapeno pepper, gruyere cheese, & roasted tomato coulis) as a hearty & healthy meal to start your day off right.

Pre-Jazz Fest Cocktail Recipe: Maurice’s Madness

  • 1 1/4 oz. Citadelle Gin
  • 1/4 oz. Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe
  • 4 oz. Bloody Mary Mix

Place all in an ice filled cocktail glass. Roll into a Boston Shaker to mix. Garnish with a lime wedge and a green olive.

As for post-Jazz Fest cocktail recipes, relax and indulge in the evening after festing with a Chocolate Raspberry Truffletini.

Want to continue the fun after Jazz Fest has ended? Make sure to stop by the Carousel Bar, our 25-seat, circus-themed Merry-Go-Round bar, for our Jazzy Jams, a series of New Orleans jazz music performances after every night of Jazz Fest. This fun event is open to any Carousel Bar and Lounge patron. Check out the full Jazzy Jams musical lineup here.

  1. At Mardi Gras, I had a Fleur de Lis cocktail at the Carousel Bar. I am dying to get the recipe, or at least the list of ingredients to try to recreate it at home. The posted bar menu is outdated — 2011 — and does not include it. Please share!

  2. We recently spent a week in New Orleans. We had a fabulous time; food & drink, culture, history & architecture. We didn’t stay at The Monteleone, but did have drinks at your Carousel Bar. The best Pimms Cup was at the Monteleone Carousel Bar… by far.We found recipes on your site for famous New Orleans drinks … but not the Pimms Cup.We were wondering if we could get that recipe……….for sure we won’t get it quite as perfect as your bar staff………but we’d love to make that drink and share it with friends. Many thanks, Marian

  3. I love love the pimm’s cup at the carousel lounge. My favorite in all if NOLA. And believe me i have checked! Can you share the recipe with thirsty Cajun in Lafayette?
