Celebrate America’s Birthday in the French Quarter: Here’s How

We’re a city full of celebration, so of course we start the party early when it comes to America’s birthday. In addition to Fourth of July celebrations, New Orleans also features an event on the third of July. And with the holiday happening over the weekend, you can guarantee it will come with all the typical French Quarter fanfare. Enjoy a cocktail at our bar, experience some live music, and head out to see the fireworks – Happy Fourth! (And Happy Third!)Happy Birthday, America! Celebrate the #4thofjuly in #nola Click To Tweet Third of July City Park in Mid-City hosts its annual “Happy 3rd of July” event on Friday, July 3 starting at 7:15 p.m.. The Marine Corps Band plays on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn with fireworks following at the Peristyle at about 9 p.m. What to bring with you? Two things: red, white, and blue paraphernalia, and cash. The event features concessions like beer, wine, and snowballs all available for purchase. To get there, take the scenic route and hop on a streetcar all the way down Canal Street (our concierge can help direct you). Fourth of July We’ll admit it: we like Fourth of July better than the third. Why? Proximity. The Fourth of July celebrations take place on the New Orleans riverfront, which means it’s just a short walk from our hotel in the French Quarter. The standout portion of Fourth of July in New Orleans is the annual “dueling barges” fireworks show. And it’s exactly what it sounds like: two barges will try to out-do each other by shooting off mesmerizing and incredibly colorful fireworks...

Puppy Happy Hour: An Adorable Success

Cocktails are always delicious. Canines are always cute. Bring them together? Well, you’ve got our Puppy Happy Hour, which happened on June 16 at the Carousel Bar & Lounge. The presence of puppies from the Louisiana SPCA (headquartered in New Orleans) made happy hour extra happy, and we were thrilled to participate in this inventive way to raise funds for a worthwhile organization.  A portion of the bar proceeds benefited the LASPCA, and bar patrons were delighted to see LASPCA puppies inside the swanky Carousel Bar. So many people came out to play with (and possibly adopt) these puppies, all of whom deserve a loving home. All in all, in just two hours, Puppy Happy Hour raised $1,100 allocated to the pet foster care and adoption program at LASPCA.  If you couldn’t make it to Puppy Happy Hour, our Carousel Bar & Lounge is always the place to be for a good time. From live jazz to craft cocktails, the bar is known for far more than its iconic, rotating carousel. The Louisiana SPCA also accepts donations year-round through its website: you don’t need a special event like Puppy Happy Hour to help animals in need. #cocktails + canines = #puppyhappyhour @LASPCA Click To Tweet More photos of the event are on the way, but in the interim, we’ve compiled a couple of our favorite pictures from the Puppy Happy Hour within this...
