Voted the number one hotel bar in the city by the readers of Gambit Weekly and listed amongst the Esquire’s The Best Bars in America in 2011, this Carousel is the only one you need to be 21 years old to ride. Hop on and take a spin‚ it will change your point of view!
In celebration of our 125th Anniversary and in an effort to preserve our past and ensure that our Hotel is prepared to serve its guests for the next 125 years, we have embarked on an exciting renovation project, details of which can be found here.
During this time The Hunt Room Grill and Le Cafe will be consolidated and reconfigured into a new restaurant, Criollo featuring Louisianan specialties which will open May 2012.
We are also offering 24 hour room service during this time.
Carousel Bar
Immortalized in the writings of Ernest Hemingway among others, the revolving Carousel Bar is a part of New Orleans history. A favorite of New Orleans locals, it has a wild circus motif and is often filled with colorful local characters telling stories about Hotel Monteleone and our celebrated city.
In 2011 the Carousel Bar experienced an enhancement consisting of expansive windows along Royal Street, and a raised ceiling to add to the ambiance of the bar.
