There are 2 pay parking lots within a 1-block radius of the Musee Conti: the lots are located on the corner of Rampart and Conti. Parking at meters on the street is often available.
Come learn the story of historic New Orleans! The wax recounts 300 years of history from the city’s founding to present day. Founded in 1963, this 3rd generation, family owned and operated business is a New Orleans treasure chest of history, legend and scandal. The WAX building, built in 1890, exemplifies turn of the century French Quarter architecture with its spot sandblasted brick walls, cypress windows, original heartwood pine floors, exposed wooden white-washed beams with indirect lighting and a skylight for accent.
Unlike other wax museums, The Musee Conti Wax Museum tells the story of one city alone, and what a story it is! From our city’s fair founding, to the legendary Battle of New Orleans, to the mysterious world of Voodoo. New Orleans’ unique history is recounted through 154 life-size figures sculpted in wax, and displayed in historically accurate settings. The Haunted Dungeon is also a sight to see if you won’t be scared by such a place!
Private parties and group tours are welcome at the WAX. The WAX can accommodate up to 300 for seated dinners & 500 for standing cocktail. Special event guests will be greeted by two costumed tour guides, a three piece Jazz combo strumming excitedly in the lobby, wait staff passing hors d’oeuvres and bartenders pouring liquor of your preference. Guests are also invited to wander through the mysterious halls of the museum! If you are looking for a unique type of party or just a fun and informative day with a New Orleans theme, then the WAX is the perfect place for you!
