I have to say that my first trip to New Orleans was incredible. We stayed at the beautiful Hotel Monteleone. Our room faced the mississippi river, the carousel bar was really fun, the management superb and the doorman Gerardo always has a smile. Our last day in New Orleans was a little crazy. Mardi Gras was warming up and the Saints were about to play the super bowl. My wife and I had no way out of the Quarter to get to our flight home. The doorman, Gerardo Monterroso, told us to hold on, that he was about to get off himself. We had no idea where he was going to get the cab to take us to the airport. He ran back, grabbed our bags and threw them into his private car. He actually drove us out of the quarter and to the airport while giving us a make shift tour of the city. Unbelievable. Not only will we be going back to New Orleans, the only place to stay for us is the Hotel Monteleone. True story. Make sure to say hello to Gerardo when you visit.
