Hotel Monteleone Renovations
In celebration of our 125 year anniversary, the Hotel Monteleone is embarking on a renovation to its restaurants, meeting areas and an expansion of the famous Carousel Bar lounge area. In preserving our past, it is our obligation to preserve our hotel for the future. For some time it has been a vision of our ownership to create this new venue and only recently has the decision been made to move forward. The renovation began in early June of this year and is scheduled for completion in early 2012. During this time, our restaurants will be closed. 24 hour Room Service is available and our “small plates” offering in the Carousel Bar are available for patrons from noon – 6 p.m.
The pool area has just undergone a renovation of the deck, the pool tile, furniture and bar. The pool bar name was chosen through a Facebook contest and the winner had chosen Acqua Bella. A new awning over the bar reflects its name, beautiful waters, in Italian.
Hotel Monteleone is fortunate to be located in the heart of the French Quarter and surrounded by renowned restaurants offering a wide assortment of cuisines and price ranges.
The Carousel’s newer lounge addition will experience an enhancement consisting of expansive windows along Royal Street, and a raised ceiling to add to the ambiance of the bar. The renovation will also add a second stationery bar in the area previously occupied by the Hunt Room Grill. The Hunt Room Grill will no longer exist, but the brand new restaurant – featuring a new design, menu and décor – will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Carousel Bar extension is set to open around December 30 and the restaurant will open in mid-March 2012.
Moving upstairs, we are majestically refurbishing the Queen Anne Ballroom and the two adjacent meeting rooms with an intricate ceiling, a massive custom created crystal chandelier and lavish fabrics and millwork befitting the room’s namesake. Likewise, the Riverview and Vieux Carré meeting rooms are also getting a facelift. We are completing the work in stages to best accommodate our guests and events. The tentative schedule is to complete work on the Riverview and Vieux Carré meeting rooms by early November and the Queen Anne Room by October. Lastly, the Hallway between the Queen Anne Ballroom and La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom will be redone in Marble with new wallpaper and trim work.
We take great pride in being a literary landmark and as such have just completed renovation of all of our Literary Suites except for Ernest Hemingway. The Hemingway suite is located on the 16th floor and is scheduled to be completed end of October when the 16th floor meeting rooms are also completed.

In an effort to keep up with the demands of current technology trends and Internet bandwidth demands, as of July 1, the Hotel Monteleone completed a major renovation to the Wi-Fi system throughout the hotel and meeting rooms.
Guests are experiencing the maximum signal strength and availability with high-speed Internet connections using either wired or wireless access throughout the Hotel. Each guest room, equipped with its own wireless access point (WAP), is now a Wi-Fi “hotspot.” Additionally, meeting rooms can support more than 3,000 simultaneous users on the fastest Internet connection in the French Quarter.
According to Andrea Thornton, Director of Sales and Marketing, “The Hotel can expand its network into any custom solution required and design it to meet the needs of the most demanding Internet users. It’s combining the ‘at-home’ experience in the guest rooms with technology in place to provide for the most advanced configurations available on the market today.”
