Fall Cocktails from the Carousel Bar

As the headquarters for all things cocktail at the world famous Carousel Lounge and Bar, we love to make recommendations for returning or new customers to the city of NOLA. A trip to New Orleans isn’t complete if it doesn’t include a stop at the Carousel Bar – and a stop at the Carousel Bar always requires trying a new cocktail! Here are three of our current favorite fall cocktails off of our signature drink menu. While we know everyone has their go-to drinks when visiting us (the Sazerac, the Vieux Carre, or even a Pimm’s Cup) we encourage all patrons to expand their cocktail repertoire. We promise you won’t be disappointed!   The Perfect Storm Our take on a Dark & Stormy, this cocktail was created more than a century ago by Bermuda’s Royal Naval Officer’s Club by adding rum to their Ginger Beer. Ginger helped to combat seasickness, lime was added to ward off scurvy, and of course rum promised to do its usual trick. This cocktail is a perfect way to transition into the cooler months. Old New Orleans Cajun Spiced Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime   Lime Daiquiri Jennings Cox, an American mining engineer, created this cocktail around 1905 in the small town of Daiquiri near Santiago on the Southeast coast of Cuba. Kiss the days of summer goodbye and say hello to fall while sipping a classic lime daiquiri. Cana Brava Rum, Lime Juice, Simple Syrup   Tom Collins In 1876, the 1st recorded Tom Collins recipe was placed in the second edition of Jerry Thomas’ book, “The Bartender’s Guide”. It’s named after a hoax performed...

Carousel Bar Cocktail Recipes: Jazz Fest Edition

Now that the first weekend of Jazz Fest is here, we want to share a few of our favorite Carousel Bar Cocktail Recipes to enjoy before and after the fest! Starting your Jazz Fest day with a delectable breakfast from Criollo accompanied by a delicious Carousel Bar creation is, in our opinion, the best way to go. Our featured pre-Jazz Fest cocktail recipe is for Maurice’s Madness – a new twist on a Bloody Mary which features gin and absinthe in the place of vodka. It pairs perfectly with a Spa Aria Omelet (egg whites filled with asparagus, wild mushrooms, jalapeno pepper, gruyere cheese, & roasted tomato coulis) as a hearty & healthy meal to start your day off right. Pre-Jazz Fest Cocktail Recipe: Maurice’s Madness 1 1/4 oz. Citadelle Gin 1/4 oz. Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe 4 oz. Bloody Mary Mix Place all in an ice filled cocktail glass. Roll into a Boston Shaker to mix. Garnish with a lime wedge and a green olive. As for post-Jazz Fest cocktail recipes, relax and indulge in the evening after festing with a Chocolate Raspberry Truffletini. Post-Jazz Fest Cocktail Recipe: Chocolate Raspberry Truffletini 1 ¼ oz. Absolut Vanilla Vodka 1 ¼ oz. Chambord 1 ¼ oz. Tia Maria 1 ¼ oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream ¼ oz. Frangelico Shake in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain. Serve up in a martini glass.
