Eat Up: New Orleans Festivals for Foodies

New Orleans is a mecca for food lovers, and there’s no better time to indulge and imbibe than in the fall.

Two relatively new but very popular food festivals return to New Orleans in 2018: the Fried Chicken Festival (September 22-23) and Beignet Fest (October 6). Meanwhile, local favorite Oak Street Po-Boy Festival (November 11) will offer over 60 variations on the classic po-boy sandwich, as well as great live music.

Just blocks away from Hotel Monteleone, enjoy the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival (October 12-14) at Lafayette Square in the CBD. Featuring two stages of incredible live music, delicious barbecue, and free admission – this is an event worth bookmarking! Also nearby and equally enjoyable is the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival (November 17-18), which takes place in Louis Armstrong Park.

If beer is more your thing, you’ll want to book a visit for the NOLA on Tap Beer Fest (September 22) or Boudin, Bourbon & Beer (November 9).

Let Us Entertain You: Cultural Events

Food isn’t the only thing New Orleans has to offer. If you find yourself more interested in art and entertainment, there is plenty to do this fall!

New Orleans Burlesque Festival (September 20-23) harkens back to the 1940s -1960s when Bourbon Street featured the largest concentration of burlesque clubs in the United States.

The 29th annual New Orleans Film Festival (October 17-25) features a diverse range of screenings, including shorts and features, local filmmakers, and international films.

For something closer to our hotel doors, the Tremé Fall Festival (October 5-7) and Carnaval Latino (October 13) both offer a festive way to celebrate.

Get Spooky: Celebrating Halloween in New Orleans

Halloween offers plenty of festivities during this popular time of year. The French Quarter and Frenchmen Street fill with costumed revelers each Halloween, and our historic hotel is at the heart of it all.

Voodoo Music + Arts Experience (October 26-28) is one of New Orleans’ most popular festivals (second only to Jazz Fest). The 2018 lineup headliners include popular contemporary artists such as Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, Martin Garrix, and many more. Held annually over Halloween weekend, the festival motto is “Worship the Music.”

Just blocks from our hotel, check out the Krewe of Boo (October 20), the official Halloween parade of New Orleans. This parade rolls through the French Quarter and downtown New Orleans and features beautifully horrific props and floats designed by the artists of Kern Studios.

If you’re traveling with little ones, Boo at the Zoo (October 26-28) is a festive way for families to celebrate the spookiest of holidays, with costumes and Halloween-inspired activities for children under the age of 12.
