Father’s Day is just a couple of weeks away, and we’ve decided to put together a short list of great New Orleans steakhouses in honor of the nation’s meat-eating dads. This list represents just a small fraction of the incredible steakhouses that New Orleans has to offer. Every one of these spots is guaranteed to satisfy.

Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse

We’ll start our list with Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, located in the French Quarter at 718 Iberville Street. Dickie Brennan’s has been a French Quarter staple for over 60 years. It has been named one of the nation’s best steakhouses by many respectable publications. If you want to pair your dad’s delicious steak dinner with the unique ambiance of the Vieux Carré, Dickie Brennan’s is the place for you.

Charlie’s Steak House

Charlie’s has been in business since 1932, and is the first steakhouse in New Orleans to serve cuts of meat on sizzling platters. It’s a no-frills establishment that takes steak seriously — for many years, Charlie’s didn’t even have a menu. Steak, salad, potatoes, onion rings, and crabmeat au gratin are pretty much the only items available, but they’re excellent across the board. You can find Charlie’s Uptown, a bit off the beaten path, at 4510 Dryades Street.

La Boca

Compared to our last two entries, La Boca is a relatively new steakhouse located in the Warehouse District at 870 Tchoupitoulas Street. La Boca is “Argentine-inspired, and New Orleans made,” and they serve expertly prepared beef that ranges from traditional to less common South American cuts.

Skirt and hanger steaks are popular picks here, though their American Kobe sirloins, filet mignon, and USDA Prime ribeye are also excellent. La Boca also boasts an eclectic wine menu and cocktail list. Basically, it’s hard go wrong here.

Crescent City Steaks

Crescent City Steaks is located at 1001 North Broad Street, and has been a New Orleans favorite since opening in 1934. If you dine here, expect an old-fashioned, traditional steakhouse experience. Cuts of USDA Prime Beef are served “New Orleans style.” This means lots and lots of butter.

Crescent City is New Orleans’ oldest family-owned steakhouse. It’s a great spot to bring the whole family to celebrate the man of the house.

Doris Metropolitan

Located at 620 Chartres Street, Doris Metropolitan is a high-end steakhouse offering USDA Prime and Japanese wagyu cuts that are dry-aged in-house, and their expertly prepared menus make use of flavors that honor their Middle Eastern roots. Steak is certainly a menu priority, but there is a diverse selection of non-steak options as well.

Doris is one of the best restaurants in the French Quarter, and that says a lot. They serve top-notch food, boast a sophisticated wine list, and offer outdoor and indoor seating options. Your dad will have a memorable evening here, guaranteed.

Criollo

We’ll conclude our list with Criollo, Hotel Monteleone’s in-house restaurant. Criollo’s seasonal menu offers creative dishes inspired by Louisiana’s culinary traditions, merged with an appreciation of today’s contemporary tastes. Everything they offer contains fresh, traditional ingredients from Louisiana and the Gulf South region.

Steak fans will love the Grilled Black Angus Rib-Eye served with rosemary butter and garlic mashed potatoes, or the Black Angus Filet with Shrimp & Scallops. if you’re staying with us during Father’s Day weekend, these outstanding dishes are just a short walk away from your room!
