This French Quarter historical landmark is a must any time of the day or night. From the powdered beignets to hot café au laits, Café Du Monde is a New Orleans tradition. Sure, the lines may appear long, but the team at Cafe Du Monde gets people in and out fast, so don’t be intimidated by the lines.

#2 Cafe Beignet on Royal Street

Locals love getting beignets from this place, whether you are on Royal Street, Bourbon Street, Canal Street, or Decatur Street. Established by a small group of close friends in 1990, the coffee is also on-point here. So if you’re into a nice, hot cup of java, you need to make a beeline here.

#3 Criollo Restaurant on Royal Street

Criollo Restaurant, located inside Hotel Monteleone, is known for refined Southern dining. During breakfast hours, order the French Market Style Beignets. These warm fluffy pastries come topped with praline sauce and fresh strawberries. If you are craving a savory beignet instead, try their Blue Crab & Corn Beignets featuring rich Cajun brown butter and flavorful remoulade sauce.

Best Places to Get Bananas Fosters

#1 Brennan’s on Royal Street

Flamed Bananas Foster is a dessert delicacy with brown sugar and rum you should only truly experience in New Orleans. This dessert was invented at Brennan’s Restaurant in 1950 and is named after Owen Brennan’s friend on the crime commission, Mr. Richard Foster. Now, of course, you could go to another town that offers Banana’s Foster, but we promise you it can’t hold a candle to the tasty goodness of Brennan’s version.

#2 Court of Two Sisters on Royal Street

Want to do your own version of a Banana’s Foster Taste Test? Go to Brennan’s first for their recipe and next hop over to the Court of Two Sisters to try theirs. Honestly, we can’t decide which we like best. They’re both incredible, but you do get to enjoy a fantastic New Orleans courtyard experience as well at the Court of Two Sisters.

Locals go nuts for this James Beard Award-winning Vietnamese bakery.  Founded in 1982, this king cake by Dong Phuong Bakery contains a rich brioche dough. It’s a bit of a drive from the French Quarter, but it’s one of the most decadent king cakes you’ll ever try.

#2 Haydel’s Bakery on Magazine Street in Uptown

If you’re planning on spending an afternoon on Magazine Street in Uptown to do a little shopping and bar hopping, make your way to Haydel’s Bakery to try their king cake. It’s a confection perfection.

Nowhere in New Orleans makes Baked Alaska like Arnaud’s. It’s cake. It’s ice cream. It’s heaven in every bite. So, if you’re planning on eating dinner or lunch here, leave room for this decadent dessert and order it in advance!

Here, the bartenders are more than people who mix drinks – they’re cocktail wizards. The drinks at Creole House are as flavorful and fantastic as their entrees, making this the perfect place for dinner and dessert.
