Carousel Bar & Lounge Cocktail Featured at Lark in the Park 2014
During a meeting with the Friends of City Park at the Carousel Bar & Lounge at Hotel Monteleone on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, Lark in the Park committee members sampled and voted on several hand-crafted cocktails to determine the winning recipe for The Flying Horse, which will be sponsored and served by Hotel Monteleone at the 2014 Lark in the Park Patron Party.
Flying Horse Cocktail Recipe
- 1 ¼ oz. Oryza vodka
- 2 Slices of fresh cucumber
- 1 – 2 Fresh strawberries, quartered
- ¼ oz. Simple syrup
- ¼ oz. Fresh lemon juice
- 3 oz. Ginger Beer
Place strawberry, cucumber, Oryza Vodka, simple syrup and fresh lemon juice in an ice filled Boston Shaker. Shake until well blended, and cucumber and strawberry have released their flavors. Roll into a 12 ounce Collins style glass, top with ginger beer and garnish with a slice of fresh cucumber.
Lark in the Park 2014 Proceeds to Restore City Park Carousel
Proceeds from Lark in the Park 2014 will go to the restoration of the City Park Carousel, a vibrantly colored, hand carved wooden carousel that has been cherished by New Orleanians for generations. As a historic attraction more than 100 years old, the City Park Carousel’s horses and figures are in critical need of maintenance. Thirty of the horses on the Carousel are “flying horses,” meaning they move up and down as the carousel revolves, hence the name for Hotel Monteleone’s newly created cocktail – The Flying Horse.
“As home to the iconic Carousel Bar, it only makes sense that Hotel Monteleone would extend its generosity from one carousel to another and support the Friends of City Park in the restoration,” said Ronald Pincus, vice-president and chief operating officer of Hotel Monteleone.
