Best Seasonal Dishes: Summer at Criollo Restaurant

Summer is served at Criollo. As we celebrate the advent of warm weather here to stay, hand-crafted seasonal dishes take center stage. If you’re looking for an old-world dining experience and sumptuous dishes you’ll be dreaming about long after you’ve gone, book a table at Criollo.

It’s not Summer until you try these 5 Summer Dishes at Criollo:

1. Avocado & Heirloom Tomato Toast

Our chefs showcase the summer’s finest garden produce with avocado and heirloom tomato toast. Hearty multi-seed bread is slathered with olive oil, toasted, and topped with smashed avocado, local heirloom tomatoes, Fresno Chili, and pickled red onion. While avocado toast has risen in popularity over recent years, the heirloom tomatoes in this dish elevate the flavor, resulting in a perfect way to start your day.

We’d recommend a delicious peach bellini or Grand Mimosa with this brunch dish.

2. Grilled Faroe Island Salmon

Grilled salmon is an ideal summer fish when you’re near the water. Let our local chefs at Criollo introduce you to the magnificent, tender Faroe Island Salmon. The Faroe Islands in the Northeast Atlantic are known for their clean waters and ideal marine ecosystem. As a result, the salmon from this region has been renowned for having the highest quality and best taste that you can find. At Criollo, our chefs balance the salmon with complementary flavors from cauliflower, romanesco, pine nuts, capers, and house-made lemon-dill vinaigrette.

We recommended the Criollo salad as the perfect starter for this meal.

3. Prince Edwards Island Mussels

From the immaculate waters off the coast of Nova Scotia, Prince Edwards Island mussels are known for their consistent quality, dark black shells, and fresh taste. These mussels are sweet and tender, only needing our in-house mixture of white wine, fennel, and fresh herbs to earn the reputation of the best mussels you will ever eat. Paired with white truffle fries, this dish is the perfect balance of flavors, both bright and richness.

Ask your server for the perfect wine pairing–we recommend a crisp, dry Pinot Grigio.

4. Kaluga Caviar

The decadent savor of Kaluga Caviar has earned it a top spot in renowned, luxurious, gourmet foods. The smooth texture of Kaluga roe and its natural earthy, buttery flavor make this caviar simple yet breathtaking. At Criollo, we serve quality blinis, creme fraiche, onions, eggs, and chives alongside the caviar.

For a light and bubbly burst, we recommend adding a bottle of Taittinger.

5. Beignets

As a New Orleans delicacy, eating beignets is a requirement in the French Quarter! At Criollo, we emulate the classic French Market style with our own unique and flavorful twist. We prepare these French doughnuts to be light and pillowy pastries, and then we top them with praline sauce and fresh Louisiana strawberries.

To balance the sweetness of beignets, we recommend an Irish Coffee or Espresso Martini.
