Are you ready for one of the most exciting summer celebrations New Orleans has to offer?
Every year on the first Saturday in August, Whitney White Linen Night takes over downtown New Orleans. The event honors the talented local artists and galleries that exhibit their work on Julia Street in the Warehouse & Arts District. Everyone in New Orleans is encouraged to wear their favorite white attire and join an evening of gallery hopping, art openings, great music, and of course, food and drink.
Let’s dive into everything going on downtown on August 4th for this year’s White Linen Night.
Julia Street Block Party
The Julia Street Block Party is the main event, featuring art openings at more than 18 Arts District galleries and museums, cocktails, and cuisine from 25 local restaurants, and live music. This year’s participating galleries include the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts, Degas Gallery, Octavia Art Gallery, and many more. Restaurants offering delicious New Orleans cuisine include Pizza Domenica, Boucherie, Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar, as well as a long list of other NOLA favorites you can find here. DJ K-Nice will be serving up great tunes all evening.
Auction House Market
If you’d like to take a break from the crowds, there’s a place to cool down and relax just down the block. The Auction House Market at 801 Magazine Street will be offering a more exclusive White Linen experience for $40 – $50. The price of admission, which benefits the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), will get you entry into the Cool Down Lounge, two complimentary drinks, light snacks, private restrooms, and seating. It’s a great place to gather with friends, take a quick break, and recharge before rejoining the crowd. Buy your tickets here.
The price of admission to the Auction House Market also gets you free admission to the official White Linen Night “Party After Dark” at the CAC.
Keep the Party Going at the “Party After Dark”
After the block party is over, keep your night going! From 9 p.m. until midnight, the CAC is hosting a dance party at their newly renovated warehouse, located at 900 Camp Street. The dance party is free for CAC members or $10 for general admission. Featuring music by DJ RQ Away, food and drink, and a Stella Artois Summer Game Lounge, this is the place to bring the party to the streets. You can buy your tickets here.
